Mountain Realty Builders

, LLC is a homebuilding company located in Asheville, NC owned by James E. (“Jim”) Hunter. The company began operations in Asheville, NC in 2005, Prior to beginning homebuilding in Asheville in 2005, Jim Hunter renovated and built homes in Atlanta, GA from 1986 until 2005.

Mountain Realty Builders, LLC has built and renovated approximately 75 homes in Buncombe County, split fairly equally between City of Asheville, and Buncombe County. Within Buncombe County (outside City of Asheville), building has been within Woodfin, Weaverville,  Fairview or unincorporated areas.

The products which Mountain Realty Builders, LLC has built are predominately single family homes, with a few duplexes. Since 2016, Mountain Realty Builders, LLC has focused on single family homes with attached Accessory Dwelling Units. The Accessory Dwelling Units have been built as either garage apartments or as Mother-in-Law Suites within the building envelope of the house itself.

Home sizes have been as small as 1300 square feet and as large as 4300 square feet.

Mountain Realty Builders was certified as a Certified Green Builder by the National Association of Home Builders and certified quite a few green homes, achieving HERS ratings as low as 52 and using sustainable building techniques and advanced building techniques such as 3-corner studs, ladder-Ts,  foam and BIBS insulation.

Jim Hunter has degrees from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA (BBA, MBA) is a licensed general contractor, and is a former State Certified General (Commercial) Appraiser in both Georgia and South Carolina. He has been married to his wife Margaret for 51 years. In addition to his homebuilding business he has been involved in numerous real estate investments for over 40 years.
